I learned during the 2008 housing market crisis that some things are affected by a poor economy while others are not or at least how they are affected. For example, alcohol sales never changed but the reason people drank did. Lawns still needed to be mowed and hair still needed to be cut during good and bad economic times.

Slots is like that. People like to gamble during good times and bad times. Equally. But there has been a shift. During a gas crisis, they don’t travel as far. They go to local casinos and travel less often to Las Vegas, Atlantic City, or the casino in the next state over that’s two hour’s drive away. Casinos are trying to entice people with offers, but travel costs are hard to overcome.
